HSE Emergency First Aid at Work (1 Day)

This First Aid course has been created from the Emergency First Aid course with the addition of the role and responsibilities of the Appointed Person as prescribed in the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.

This course contains many of the same subject areas as the First Aid at Work course, the main difference being the amount of time each candidate has to learn and develop their skills.

The main objectives are: 

1. To prepare a candidate to administer effective life saving treatment while awaiting the arrival of a qualified First Aider (FAW) and /or qualified professionals

2. to assess and diagnose minor injuries with the aim of preventing the casualties condition from worsening

3. To be able to complete accident report forms and forward RIDDOR information when required

4. To be able to carry out the role of the Appointed Person as described in the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.

There are learning outcomes for each area of the course; but in summary they are:

1. To be able to recognise a casualty who is suspected of suffering a heart attack, or who is unconscious and not breathing and be able to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation in accordance with current guidelines as set out be the European Resuscitation Council

2. To be able to administer the correct treatment to a casualty who is having difficulty breathing due to an object becoming lodged in their throat

3. To be able to correctly apply a bandage to a bleeding wound that has no foreign objects embedded within it

4. To be able to diagnose and administer the correct treatment for:

i. A suspected fracture

ii. Medical shock

iii. Spinal injuries

iv. Poisoning

v. Stroke

vi. Seizures and other causes of unconsciousness.

• City based training venue if required

• A bespoke training course to meet the needs of all

• HSE qualified trainer

• HSE approved course

Cost: £85.00pp or £450.00 for a dedicated session (max 12 attendees)
